Delete Downloaded Update Components

Before deleting the update components, you need to stop the corresponding service first.

  1. Press Windows Key + X.
  2. Select Run option.
  3. Type Services in the newly launched box.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Click the Name column head.
  6. Scroll down to the Windows Update.
  7. Right-click it, select Properties option.
  8. Set the Startup Type: Automatic (Delayed Start)
  9. Click Stop, and then Apply | OK.
  10. Click File Explorer icon on your Taskbar.
  11. Open the following directory:
    • C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download
  12. Delete all the folder contents.
  13. Restart your computer for the changes to take effects.
